TORCAN change de lieu et date: 24 octobre

It is with great pleasure that we can finally announce to everyone the Torcan Model Show for 2020.

There’s been a void in the hobby ever since the Ajax show left us.  October just hasn’t felt the same.  And saying that, it’s been the worst kept secret in the hobby that we have been looking to move to the show to the fall and find a venue that could accommodate the vendors and displays in the same room.   We think our club and show can fill that void left by Ajax with an even better show.

So it’s with great pride that I can say that we have a new date and a new venue for Torcan 2020.  Saturday October 24, 2020 at the Richmond Green Sports Complex in Richmond Hill.

There’s plenty of parking.  Lots to eat in very close proximity.  And we look forward to seeing everyone (and their models) there.

C'est avec grand plaisir que nous pouvons enfin annoncer à tous le Salon du modèle Torcan pour 2020.

Il y a eu un vide dans le hobby depuis que le spectacle Ajax nous a quittés. Octobre n'est tout simplement plus la même chose. Et en disant cela, c'est le secret le moins bien gardé du passe-temps que nous cherchions à déménager au salon à l'automne et à trouver un lieu qui pourrait accueillir les vendeurs et les présentoirs dans la même pièce. Nous pensons que notre club et notre spectacle peuvent combler ce vide laissé par l'Ajax avec un spectacle encore meilleur.

C'est donc avec une grande fierté que je peux dire que nous avons une nouvelle date et un nouveau lieu pour Torcan 2020. Samedi 24 octobre 2020 au Richmond Green Sports Complex à Richmond Hill.

Il y a plein de parking. Beaucoup de choses à manger à proximité. Et nous avons hâte de voir tout le monde (et leurs modèles) là-bas.

N'hésitez pas à partager cet e-mail et le dépliant avec tous ceux que vous connaissez. C'est NOTRE spectacle. Rendons 2020 encore plus grand!

Important Message about the Torcan 2020 Scale Model Show for all our club members, show patrons, vendors, sponsors and volunteers.

We hope everyone and their families are safe and healthy as Canada and Ontario confront the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. These are and continue to be stressful times that directly impact our families, our work and our modelling community.
In assessing the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic and after thorough, careful and thoughtful discussion, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Torcan 2020 Scale Model Show, which was to be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the Richmond Green Sports Centre.

As you are aware, the preparation of a Torcan show requires a minimum planning time of 6 months.  At this time, the City of Richmond Hill Event Services/Community Services Department will not enter any discussions regarding facility bookings until the end of July 2020.  In addition, a significant number of show sponsors and vendors are preferring to wait until the situation is more settled before committing to a show.  Given these conditions, there is insufficient time to deliver the quality Torcan show that everyone has come to expect and deserves.

The decision to cancel Torcan has not been made lightly and we share everyone’s disappointment. Key in choosing this course of action is our utmost concern for ensuring the safety and health of our club members and show participants. Additionally, in light of ongoing health department and government regulations around social distancing, public gatherings, wearing personal protective equipment and travel restrictions, we feel our decision has been both prudent and necessary.

We look forward to a Torcan Scale Model Show in 2021 when we can all, once again, get together with fellow scale modelers, see some outstanding scale models and welcome our friends from other provinces and states in enjoying our great hobby.
